Nokia Hands on N8 Preview

We’ll hello gang, N8 mania just got bigger. I had a chance to meet that fella, Yes am talking about N8. Good people at Nokia had invited me recently to have a preview of their upcoming and most awaited Symbian device “THE Nokia N8“.

Pros

Its Nokia’s First in all device , First to run Symbian^3 , First to feature a humongous 12MP CAM with a Xenon Flash , First ever Symbian phone to have a ground breaking feature called USB OTG( Lets you plug in a Flash drive on to phone and read and write data to it) , First ever Symbian phone to have an HDMI port , First Nokia phone to support 720p HD Video recording , First Nokia phone to have Dolby® digital certified , First Symbian phone to support Multitouch feature , First Nokia’s Symbian phone to Playback DivX natively and sport a Gorilla Glass , First Symbian phone that has Threaded SMS with Smiley Support.. And this BIG list continues so on and on.
The build quality, choice of material and the feel what we get hands on is great. The S^3 OS is faster, more advanced, simpler to user. Nokia Could have implemented something cool and trendy like Live Wallpaper. Yeh i love that one on Android phone. Anyway N8′s Camera has both Automatic and Mechanical Shutter, which is again a great feature (usually found in SLR Camera’s). Has FM transmitter (always like this feature) , N8 can be charged via both Micro USB port as well on that round pin slot (so older charger works on N8). And S60 5th edition apps will work with N8(little bit of porting must by the dev), There’s Gravity app, there’s Angry birds game, a special video editing app for N8, Adobe reader , Office Suite, and apps that were short listed at Makemyapp contest are also being developed and more apps on the New Ovi Store. Cool i’d say..  Also N8 is going to launch in some real attractive colors like Blue, Orange, Silver etc for around 22-25k INR. SWEET!!
So above is the list of features that anyone would fall for and those were some of the features that i liked a lot.

Cons?

Eh no phone is perfect right.? This one? Nothing comes to my mind because N8 almost gives a complete outta box solution. Also some users might ask for the Qwerty Version of N8. N8-01? May be. Also i personally didn’t like the menu button being placed at the bottom left corner, could have been at center, also i kinda miss the Call and End button which i’ve grown up seeing em on other Nokia phones. ha ha.
Also if your eye’s are popped out just by looking at some other phone’s spec like 1Ghz processor, 512 ram etc etc , remember “OS must compliment with the Hardware”. N8 is a mix of great hardware and a great OS. Symbian OS that requires less RAM, consumes less power (both cpu and battery), one of the best customizable OS, now has found a praiseworthy hardware. This is gona be interesting! You’ve not seen it coming yet! More Good things are about to come.
